Renowned television personality Mehmet Oz, better known as Dr. Oz, has just released a new collection of sleep products including adjustable frames, mattresses. pillows and utility bedding. Motivated by his belief that insufficient sleep is a significant barrier to excellent health, the cardiovascular surgeon collaborated with industry experts to develop a designed to improve people’s well-being. The Career of Dr. Oz
Dr. Oz was born in Cleveland, Ohio, to two Turkish parents. His father was a surgeon, and from a very early age, he was determined to go into the healthcare field. He completed his undergraduate studies at Harvard University before receiving both an MBA from the Wharton School and an MD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. His personal and professional experience led Dr. Oz to perceive medicine from multiple perspectives, determined to be open to new ideas about how to improve the health of the public.
Throughout his career, Dr. Oz excelled at conducting minor and major heart procedures, including heart transplants. In the mid-90s, he created the Cardiovascular Institute and Integrative Medicine Program at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital before developing his first show with his wife, “Second Opinion with Doctor Oz.” However, despite having a wide array of celebrity guests on the show, it only ran for one season.
While his initial television venture wasn’t, Dr. Oz still found himself making a long list of appearances on other shows. Much of his mainstream fame came from his more than 60 appearances on “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” where he was a health consultant. In 2009, he launched his most successful public project, “The Dr. Oz Show.” The show saw massive ratings and has been the winner of several Emmy Awards.
In addition to television, Dr. Oz has published countless books and co-founded the highly acclaimed medical app Sharecare. He also founded the organization Healthcorps, which gets recent college graduates to teach high school students about health and fitness.
